The reason we started this venture was that when we first purchased our land, it was just one big corn field and that's not what we wanted to look at every day. We made some changes. At first putting in a pond to attract ducks and geese. We also planted a timothy grass and alfalfa mix to attract pheasants and deer. About two years later a neighboring farmer asked to cut the land for hay to feed his beef cows and we thought, "why not raise our own beef cows?" Thanksgiving Day weekend in 2008 we attended a cow auction and came home with 4 cows with calves by their sides and we have not looked back since. We modeled our farm off of what Joel Salatin of Polyface Farm was doing, all grass fed, and we knew this was the way we wanted to run our farm. Since then we have grown the farm to around a total of 60 head of beef, way too many chickens to count, and some pigs.
"Its so rewarding, knowing what we have done for the soil conditions and for the lives of our animals. Sun, grass and water is all our animals need to provide good, quality, healthy food for our customers." - Bill Weber
